I work one-to-one and with couples. I believe in
the importance of building a relationship with the client(s) based on
trust, respect and openness.
Life is not easy! Counselling is not about taking
the easy way out – it is about engaging with, and addressing our
difficulties and challenging ourselves to become stronger, and so enjoy
a more satisfying life.
In an increasingly complex world people need to see
their own difficulties in relation to the overall contradictions and dilemmas
that beset human living - to make sense of themselves within their own
context. I work to encourage clients to seek out their own sources of
coping to live a fulfilling and purposeful life.
We all “interpret” the world based on
our own subjective view of it based on our past experiences and current
influences, and see my role as assisting the client in exploring their
relationship with the world, their self and others.
I aim to promote awareness for the client on both
a cognitive and emotional front to enable resolution of issues, and the
capacity within the client to gain meaning, and to deal with life and
its problems and uncertainties in the future.
I adhere to the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy Code of Ethics
